The Wadi Mujib is a spellbinding canyon that towers above the Mujib River and stretches along 70 kilometers. This river flows into the dead sea also known as the lowest point on earth. Many excursions give visitors the chance to trek through the water, beneath the towering canyons, and into the Dead Sea itself. Canyoning in the Wadi Mujib could easily become the highlight of your journey in Jordan !

An unique activity in Jordan

Canyoning or hiking in the biosphere of the Wadi Mujib River is one of the best activities you can do in Jordan. Enjoy the refreshing shades of the canyon in the heat of the day and its never cold fresh water.

Fitted with a life jacket, a guide and your waterproof shoes, you are off for a unique adventure in the water. The aquatic hike is not difficult but make sure to know how to swim since some part of the trail requires swimming.

From a simple walk through the stream to an all-out adventure filled with rock climbing, swimming and waterslides, the 4 hiking trails into the Wadi Mujib will satisfied novice and athlete!

Siq Trail

This 2 – 3 hours hike is the easiest in the Wadi Mujib. It is meant to be the most placid of all 4 trails whilst still being absolutely breathtaking.

The start of the hike is very large and the water level is low but as soon as you pass the first corner the water will soon gets angle deep. The adventure begins now! The canyon became narrower and the water gets gradually deeper reaching your knees, then your waist.

Don’t worry! you will always have your guide and the staff of the Wadi Mujib Centre to help you cross difficult waterfalls.

The trail is not hard, you simply need to take your time crossing some paths. You will have to climb 2-3 waterfalls using fixed ropes, scrambling and forging against the river current. This aquatic hike will end to a 6 meters cascade. Here, you can enjoy floating in the river for a while before letting the flow lead you back to the entry of the Siq trail.

The Ibex trail

This 3-4-hour hike does not involve swimming! Perfect for those who are not really at ease with aquatic hike. However, this trails path includes a steep climb at the beginning to bring you high above the Dead Sea. From there you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view and a sweet hiking.

The Malaqi Trail

If you want to challenge yourself, the Malaqi trail is the perfect hike for you. This 4-9-hour walk (depends on if you take the shortcut or not), will take you above the Dead Sea before going deep into the canyon of the Mujib River. There, enjoy beautiful green vegetation, fishes and frogs! The hike will lead you until the Hidan River where you can jump and swim in deep pools. On your way back try abseiling a 20 meters height waterfall!

The Canyon Trail

The hardest hike will take you around four hours to complete. This trail will be perfect for those who wants to hike, swim, float down the river, but also to repel down the side of waterfalls and do some cliff jumping!
